To Your Health #10
The final article in this series of "How to Get Truly Good Health" focuses on two topics I neglected to have on the original list. These two items are very important in obtaining and maintaining good health. Both involve a similar process. The first is deep breathing, the second elimination.
Deep breathing cleanses the lungs, brings oxygen to the blood and increases metabolism. The cells in our body must have oxygen to live. Cells take oxygen and nutrients from the blood as it circulates through the body, then uses those for energy to accomplish their required tasks. As they work they produce wastes such as carbon dioxide. These waste products must be removed from the body. The blood brings many of the wastes back to the lungs where we breathe them out. Not clearing those wastes out can cause many issues in the body.
The best way to practice deep breathing and teach yourself the proper method is to lie on your back. If your bed is firm you can practice there. Breathe from your gut. Do not move your shoulders but allow the muscle below the ribs to work. This muscle is the diaphragm. Fill your lungs as much as is comfortable and hold for a second or two. Release this air all the way to as empty as you can manage. Then repeat up to 10 times. After completing this relax for a while as it can cause you to become dizzy. The more often you practice try to increase the number of times you inhale and exhale deeply.
As you go through your day focus on how you are breathing and work at breathing deeply to gain relaxation, eliminate cellular waste and boost your oxygen.
The last item to discuss is elimination of wastes from the body. I'll not get graphic, just let me say it is very important to eliminate the digestive tract several times a day. "Normal" is after each meal. Adding fiber and drinking plenty of pure water are the most well known helpers in elimination but there is one other important nutrient involved. Magnesium. With adequate amounts of magnesium in the body the system works like clock-work. Note that drinking caffeine filled drinks is actually dehydrating to the body and should be avoided.
